DOSBand RELEASE NOTES Version 5.20.02, September 1997 Yankee Environmental Systems, Inc. Airport Industrial Park Turners Falls, MA 01376 (413) 863-0200 (413) 863-0255 (fax) info@sunlight.yesinc.com This document describes important information not found in the manuals or that supersedes the information in the manuals. It also describes any known problems along with their workarounds. YESTALK EMULATOR REPLACES QTALK ============================ The documentation refers to the Qtalk terminal program. This terminal emulator has been replaced by YEStalk, which is supplied with the DOSBand host software. Refer to the YEStalk User Guide for more information. The Installation chapter in the YESDAS manual still uses Qtalk in its sample session. You can use YEStalk in command-line mode like Qtalk, but you will probably prefer to use the menu items and dialogs to communicate with the YESDAS datalogger. You should read the YEStalk manual before trying the sample session in YESDAS so you can make the appropriate substitutions in the procedures. PASSWORDS IN .CAL FILE ============================ Certain sections of the documentation refer to the System Information and Password sheet. This sheet is no longer bound into MFR and YESDAS manuals. Instead, password information is included as comments in the .cal file. Search for the keyword password to find the system information. HOW TO UPGRADE DOSBAND ============================= The latest version of DOSBand is always available via anonymous ftp to solsun1.asrc.cestm.albany.edu. We will try to notify you as new releases become available, but you may want to check this ftp site periodically to make sure you have the latest software. To ftp the software: 1. ftp solsun1.asrc.cestm.albany.edu 2. Log in as anonymous and specify your address as your password. 3. cd \pub. 4. Type binary (or type I) to change to binary mode. 5. mget *.EXE. Be aware that names are case sensitive. You should retrieve four files: o INSTALL o DRIVERS o PROGRAM.EXE o UTILITY.EXE 6. Also check for a release notes file with the extension .txt and get this file if one exists. 7. Copy the files to a floppy diskette and run install from the disk. The install program must be executed from a floppy disk. KNOWN PROBLEMS AND WORKAROUNDS ============================= o YEStalk terminal emulator takes a long time to start from DOSBand With the current extended memory implementation, YEStalk takes a long time to start from DOSBand. We recommend that you run the terminal emulator in standalone mode by typing yestalk from the \dosband installation directory.
